Name Todd Reynolds
About My career in in radio began in Decatur, IL, where I was working overnights on the weekends playing oldies. Soon after, a friend of mine from college hired me as a board operator at a talk radio station in Baltimore. I engineered the shows of some of the leading African American talk show host in the country, including Rev. Benjamin Chavis, former president of the NAACP. After working behind the scenes in Baltimore for a year and not being able to get back on the air, I decided it was time to move again. Around the same time I was looking to move, my brother in Louisville had run across someone we grew up with that was working at the urban station in town. This person, Teena Foxx, to whom I am eternally grateful, (Thanks for the hook up Teena!!!) got me a position doing overnights at B96. After working there for only nine months, the company's Vice President of Programming, gave me the opportunity to do evenings at our sister station in Cincinnati. I had the time of my life for 3 and a half years at "100.9 The Wiz", but had the urge to try something different. I moved to New York City, to explore other career opportunities in the Media/Entertainment industry. After blowing my life savings in about 3 months, I got a job answering the request lines at WKTU. After a few months, I was given the opportunity to help out as a production assistant and eventually produce the morning show. The experience was priceless, but I was still living off of my credit cards (rent was $1100 in Brooklyn!!!!!). It was time to move again. This time, help came from another Program Director that I use to work for in Cincinnati, Phillip David March. He told me about some possible opportunities at his current company. After potential positions shifted around at the company's stations in North Carolina and South Carolina, I was offered a position doing the morning show, at a new urban station in Albany, GA. It was here that "The Morning Blaze" was born on Blazin' 102.1. After only a year, the ratings for "The Morning Blaze" matched those of some of the syndicated morning shows in the market. I put in work in the ALB for a few years and was offered a position with "The Jamz Morning Show" at KSJM in Wichita. In 2006 I was nominated for "Best Radio Personality" by the readers of The Community Voice newspaper. I later moved to afternoons and took on programming responsibilies for the station. Unfortunately, after making significant strides in the market, the station was sold and flipped formats at the beginning of the year. I am currently looking for my next exciting career opportunity in radio.
